Pradhan's resignation victory of Rahul, lakhs of students: Ashok Gehlot
Jaipur, Jul 25:  Former Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot on Saturday said that Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation marked a victory for Rahul Gandhi's campaign and the struggle of lakhs of students. "In the tenure of the Modi government, which has consistently evaded accountability, today's development is a victory for Rahul Gandhi and lakhs of students who have been fighting for a transparent education system and against paper leaks," Gehlot said. He said it was public pressure that forced Prime Minister Narendra Modi to bow down. "Under immense pressure, Prime Minister Modi had to relent and Dharmendra Pradhan was ultimately compelled to resign. The Prime Minister defended him for a long time but could not save him," Gehlot said. "This reflects the strength of Indian democracy. A government that behaves in an authoritarian manner has been forced to bow before the will of the people," he said. Gehlot also noted police excesses against the protesters. "It will be recorded in history how students were subjected to pellet guns and how Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi was dragged for raising their voice," he said. "Today, democracy has won and authoritarianism has lost. The people will not forgive this government for playing with the future of the country's youth, and our struggle will continue until students get justice," Gehlot added.
