CBI Arrests IPS Officer Deepak Gahlawat in ₹3 Crore Bribery Case Linked to Fake Drug Racket Probe
New Delhi, July 1: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday arrested IPS officer Deepak Gahlawat in connection with an alleged ₹3 crore bribery case linked to its investigation into a fake drug manufacturing racket. According to officials, Gahlawat, who was serving as Regional Director in the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) at the time of the alleged offence, is accused of assuring a Puducherry-based businessman of a favourable outcome in the CBI probe by allegedly using his influence over agency officials in exchange for a bribe. The arrest follows a CBI trap operation conducted in June, during which Delhi Police Crime Branch Inspector Pradeep Singh and an alleged middleman, Rajkumar, were caught and taken into custody. The agency had earlier registered an FIR against Pradeep Singh, Rajkumar, and businessman N Raja in connection with the alleged bribery case. The investigation is ongoing to determine the extent of the conspiracy and the involvement of other individuals
