Gurugram, Sept 19: Gurugram Police, along with the Haryana State Commission for Women, conducted raids at 18 spa centres at Sapphire 90 Mall and detained 50 people, including 30 women and 20 men, officials said on Saturday.

The joint operation began around 10 pm on Friday and continued until approximately 3 am on Saturday, with simultaneous searches carried out across the spa centres.

According to police, preliminary evidence of suspected illegal activities was found at eight of the 18 establishments. Investigators have seized electronic, digital and physical material, along with documents, which are being examined to determine the involvement of owners, operators, managers and other alleged facilitators.

Police said some of the spa centres were found locked during the operation. Officers subsequently opened the premises and found several men and women inside.

The detained women are being questioned to establish their circumstances and determine whether any organised network or facilitators were involved. Police are also verifying the role of the men found at the establishments.

Officials said further legal action will be taken based on the evidence gathered during the investigation.

The raid was conducted in the presence of Gurugram Police, Haryana State Commission for Women Chairperson Usha Priyadarshini and her team, and a Duty Magistrate.

Gurugram Police said the action followed suo motu cognisance of suspected illegal activities and reiterated its stance against organised illegal activities allegedly operating under the guise of legitimate commercial establishments.
