PM Modi Speaks to Nepal PM Balen Shah, Assures All Possible Humanitarian Assistance

NEW DELHI, Aug 26: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday spoke with Nepal Prime Minister Balendra Shah over the devastating floods in the neighbouring country and assured India’s full support for rescue and relief operations.

Modi conveyed his condolences over the loss of lives and said India stood in solidarity with the people of Nepal during the difficult situation.

“Spoke to Prime Minister Balendra Shah and conveyed condolences on the loss of lives due to the floods in Nepal. The people of India stand in solidarity with their sisters and brothers in Nepal at this difficult time,” Modi said in a post on X.

He added that India was coordinating closely with Nepal on rescue and relief efforts and assured the country of “all possible humanitarian assistance”.

At least eight people have been reported dead, with more casualties feared after flash floods swept through Nepal’s Rasuwa district bordering Tibet on Wednesday.

The disaster also affected areas across the border in Tibet, where Chinese authorities reported major casualties and missing persons after a mudslide struck a land crossing between China and Nepal.
