New Delhi: Government has set up over 1,000 one stop centres (OSCs) for helping women affected by violence and those in distress, both in private and public spaces all across the country, Lok Sabha was informed on Friday.
Since the inception of this program in April, 2015 to June, 2026, over 15 lakh women have been assisted in the country through these OSCs, said the Minister of State for Women and Child Development Savitri Thakur in response to a question by Samajwadi Party MP Dimple Yadav.
The minister said under the Mission Shakti guidelines, one stop centre provides integrated and immediate support and assistance under one roof to women affected by violence and those in distress, both in private and public spaces all across the country.
The centres are required to meet the prescribed minimum infrastructure and service standards, including adequate space for counselling, temporary shelter, medical and legal support, accessibility for persons with disabilities, a dedicated vehicle with scheme branding, trained staff and convergence with the Police, Health Department and District Legal Services Authority to provide integrated support and assistance to women in distress.
"Since inception, i.e. 1st April, 2015 to 30th June, 2026, 1033 One Stop Centres are administratively approved out of which, 991 One Stop Centres have been made operational across the country and over 15.20 lakh women have been assisted in the country through these OSCs," she said.
Mission Shakti is a centrally sponsored scheme and implementation of this scheme lies with the state governments and UT administrations. As per the Mission Shakti guidelines, the central government provides financial assistance to States and UTs, Thakur said.
She also said the ministry has also developed the Mission Shakti Dashboard, which facilitates real-time tracking of functioning of the schemes under the Mission Shakti at the district, State, and national levels.
