MP Mian Altaf Safe After Landslide Hits Vehicle on Jammu-Poonch Highway

JAMMU, July 22: National Conference MP Mian Altaf Ahmad escaped unhurt on Wednesday after his official vehicle was caught in a landslide on the Jammu-Poonch Highway while he was travelling to visit flood-affected areas. According to officials, a landslide struck the highway, leaving the MP’s vehicle stranded. However, Mian Altaf safely exited the vehicle without sustaining any injuries. Despite the incident, he continued his journey on foot to reach the affected villages and assess the damage caused by the recent heavy rains and flash floods. The MP was on his way to meet residents impacted by the ongoing rain-related calamities, which have caused widespread destruction across several parts of the Jammu region. No injuries were reported in the incident. Authorities are closely monitoring the highway, where continuous rainfall has triggered intermittent landslides and disrupted traffic at several vulnerable locations.
