Man fatally stabbed during birthday party in Jaipur; 8 arrested

Jaipur, Jul 13: A man was allegedly stabbed to death with kitchen knives during a birthday party in Jaipur following a dispute, with police arresting eight people, including the main accused, officials said on Monday. The accused also included two life convicts — Kuldeep Gurjar alias Kullu Gurjar and Rajesh Gurjar — who had allegedly escaped from Bharatpur Open Jail before travelling to Jaipur. Kuldeep is serving a life sentence in two murder cases, while Rajesh Gurjar is serving a life term in a rape case. The victim, Annu Gurjar, was Kuldeep Gurjar’s cousin. The deceased, a resident of Dholpur district, was allegedly attacked with kitchen knives after an argument broke out during the party at Atish Market in Mansarovar late on Sunday night. SHO Mansarover Lakhan Khatana said that Anuj Gurjar allegedly assaulted Annu Gurjar with the help of others, including Akash Gurjar, Hunny Gurjar and Gajendra Gurjar, inflicting fatal injuries. The victim was taken to Jaipuria Hospital, where he was declared dead. During the party, a dispute broke out between Anuj Gurjar and Annu Gurjar, following which Anuj, along with his associates, stabbed Annu Gurjar. The SHO said eight accused, including the main accused Anuj Gurjar, have been arrested in the murder case. Reasons for the murder are being investigated. Separate legal proceedings are being initiated against the two life convicts for allegedly escaping from the open jail, he added.
