Lok Sabha House Committee Yet to Be Reconstituted After Term Ends

NEW DELHI, Aug 6: The Lok Sabha House Committee, which oversees accommodation and related facilities for Members of Parliament, is yet to be reconstituted after its one-year term ended last month. The committee’s tenure concluded on July 3, but a new panel has not yet been constituted. Originally formed in 2024 for a one-year term, the House Committee was reconstituted in 2025 and has since completed its latest tenure. The committee is responsible for matters relating to the residential accommodation of Lok Sabha members in New Delhi and monitors the provision of various amenities during their tenure. Appointed by the Speaker of the Lok Sabha, the panel generally comprises up to 12 members. Its chairperson is nominated by the Speaker, and the committee normally remains in office for one year. Apart from overseeing the allotment and maintenance of official residences, the committee reviews facilities such as water and electricity supply, examines issues affecting the comfort and welfare of MPs living in government accommodation, and recommends measures to improve these services.
