Kathua Railway Station Renamed After Kirti Chakra Awardee Capt Sunil Kumar Choudhary
Kathua, Jul 18: In a tribute to the supreme sacrifice of a brave soldier, the Indian Railways has renamed Kathua Railway Station as “Martyr Captain Sunil Kumar Choudhary Railway Station Kathua” in honour of Kirti Chakra awardee Captain Sunil Kumar Choudhary. Captain Sunil Kumar Choudhary laid down his life in the line of duty at the age of 27 and was posthumously awarded the Kirti Chakra, the country’s second-highest peacetime gallantry award. Union Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office, Dr. Jitendra Singh, announced the decision through a post on X, describing it as a fitting tribute to the fallen Army officer. According to the Minister, the long-pending demand of Captain Choudhary’s family and local residents was taken up with the Railway Minister by him, following which the proposal was approved and the station officially renamed.
