J&K Police Conduct CASO, Railway Track Sanitisation in Samba Amid SANJY
Jammu, July 10: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday conducted a search and cordon operation (CASO), an area domination exercise and sanitised a railway track in Samba district as part of enhanced security measures for the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra.
The operation was carried out in the sensitive areas of Nonath Khad and Ghagwal, including the adjoining railway track, under the supervision of the Additional Superintendent of Police, Samba.
Joint teams of the Special Operations Group (SOG), Samba, the 93 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the Government Railway Police (GRP) participated in the operation to prevent anti-national activities and strengthen the district’s security grid.
During the exercise, security personnel conducted intensive searches of vulnerable locations and carried out a CASO in an abandoned building to rule out its possible use by anti-social or anti-national elements.
The railway track passing through the area was thoroughly sanitised in coordination with the GRP to ensure the safe movement of trains.
Following the operation, police personnel deployed along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway for Amarnath Yatra security were briefed and directed to maintain a high level of vigilance, closely monitor suspicious movement and ensure that no unauthorised vehicles are parked along the highway.
Police said such search operations and area domination exercises will continue in coordination with other security agencies to maintain a robust security grid and ensure peace and security in the district.
The 57-day Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra commenced on July 3 through the 48-km Nunwan-Pahalgam route in Anantnag district and the 14-km Baltal route in Ganderbal district. The annual pilgrimage is scheduled to conclude on August 28.
