Jamshedpur: At least 55 drug peddlers and criminals wanted in Arms Act cases have been arrested and 10 firearms and cartridges, besides drugs worth Rs 20 lakh, seized during a special drive in Jharkhand's East Singhbhum district in July, an official statement said on Thursday.
East Singhbhum Police conducted 'Operation Zero Tolerance' against drug peddlers and those wanted in Arms Act and firing cases in July.
At least 21 people allegedly involved in the drug trade were arrested and 54 kg of ganja and 91.25 gm of brown sugar, altogether worth over Rs 20 lakh, were seized, the statement said.
Similarly, 34 criminals were arrested for allegedly carrying illegal firearms or opening fire. A total of 10 firearms, including three country-made weapons, along with 15 cartridges, were seized, it said.
All the arrested persons have been remanded to judicial custody.
