Roorkee, Sept 19: National Security Advisor Ajit Doval on Saturday said India’s economy has the potential to grow from its current GDP of around USD 4.015 trillion to USD 38 trillion over the next 20 years.
Addressing the convocation ceremony of IIT Roorkee as the chief guest, Doval said students are entering their careers at a time of significant transformation and that the country’s future presents major opportunities for the younger generation.
Doval said India is undergoing rapid changes and moving towards what he described as a promising future. Referring to the period leading up to 2047, which Prime Minister Narendra Modi has described as ‘Amrit Kaal’, he said the coming decades would be important for the country’s development.
The NSA also invoked the example of Lord Ram while encouraging students to demonstrate courage and determination in their lives. He referred to sage Vishwamitra’s decision to choose Lord Ram to confront the demons, highlighting courage as an important quality.
During his address, Doval also recalled an experience from his early career while he was posted in Sikkim. He shared an anecdote involving a Sherpa who, according to Doval, taught him three principles for achieving success in life.
Explaining the lessons, Doval said the first is to know where you stand, the second is to know where you want to go, and the third is to understand the path required to reach the destination and return safely.
He urged the graduating students to apply these principles while making decisions and pursuing their professional and personal goals.
