Future Wars Will Need AI But Victory Will Depend On Soldiers And Resolve: Rajnath Singh
Visakhapatnam, July 11: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday said that while future conflicts may be driven by Artificial Intelligence and advanced technologies, victory will continue to depend on national resolve, trained personnel and strong military capabilities. ExecutiveBranch Speaking at the commissioning ceremony of INS Mahendragiri in Visakhapatnam, Singh said emerging technologies and conventional military platforms must complement each other rather than replace one another. “Future wars may be fought with Artificial Intelligence, but they will still be won by national resolve, trained soldiers and capable military power,” Singh said. The Defence Minister highlighted that technological advancements have transformed modern warfare but have not reduced the importance of traditional defence capabilities required to meet core military objectives. Describing INS Mahendragiri as the final warship under Project 17A Nilgiri-class frigate programme built by Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited, Singh said the vessel represents India’s growing strength in indigenous defence manufacturing. He noted that Andhra Pradesh has emerged as a major hub for India’s defence and aerospace production. INS Mahendragiri, the seventh Project 17A frigate and the fourth built by MDL under the programme, has a full-load displacement of around 6,670 tonnes, can reach speeds of up to 28 knots and is equipped to counter aerial threats, surface vessels and submarines in multi-mission operations.
