Fresh Summer Snowfall Blankets Wari La Pass in Ladakh
LEH, July 22: Fresh snowfall covered Wari La Pass on the Nubra–Pangong route in Ladakh on Wednesday, underscoring the region’s unpredictable high-altitude weather, where snowfall can occur even during the peak summer season.
The snowfall blanketed the mountain pass and surrounding peaks in white, leaving a fresh layer of snow on parts of the road and causing a noticeable drop in temperatures.
In view of the changing weather conditions, the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has issued a travel advisory urging tourists and local residents to postpone non-essential travel and avoid vulnerable and flood-prone areas until conditions improve.
