Four Drug Peddlers, Including Two Women, Detained Under PIT-NDPS Act in Reasi
Jammu, Jul 21: Four alleged drug peddlers, including two women, were detained under the Prevention of Illicit Trafficking in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT-NDPS) Act in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district, police said on Tuesday. According to police, the detainees—three from Jammu and one from Amritsar, Punjab—are habitual offenders with multiple cases registered against them under the NDPS Act at Police Station Katra. Despite repeated legal action, they allegedly continued to engage in drug trafficking, posing a serious threat to public safety and social order. After completing all legal formalities, police prepared detailed dossiers against the accused, following which the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, issued detention orders under the PIT-NDPS Act. The two male accused have been lodged in Central Jail Kot Bhalwal, while the two women have been shifted to District Jail Udhampur. Police said the action reflects their continued commitment to combating drug trafficking and eliminating the narcotics menace from the district.
