Five Amarnath Pilgrims Injured After Vehicle Hits Stationary Truck on Jammu-Srinagar Highway in Udhampur
Udhampur, Jul 18: Five Amarnath pilgrims were injured early Saturday after the vehicle they were travelling in collided with a stationary truck on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway near Sangoor Chowk in Udhampur district.
According to officials, a Toyota Innova carrying pilgrims to the Baltal base camp rammed into a dumper parked along the roadside from behind, leaving five occupants injured.
Police teams rushed to the spot soon after the accident and shifted the injured to the Associated Hospital, Government Medical College (GMC), Udhampur, for treatment.
The injured have been identified as Ansh (15), son of Rakesh Verma; Rakesh Kumar (44), son of Ram Naresh; Vishal Verma (21), son of Kamlesh Verma; Surjeet Kumar (20), son of Narinder; and Neerja Verma (33), daughter of Ram Naresh. All are residents of Lakhimpur and Sitapur districts of Uttar Pradesh.
Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.
