Fifty-three ex-servicemen pay homage at Kargil war memorial
Jammu, July 17: Fifty-three tri-services ex-servicemen visited the Kargil War Memorial at the Kargil helipad on July 16 to commemorate the 27th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas, officials said.
Major General P Vivekanand, SM, led the group during the Indian Army-organised visit, which honoured the sacrifice of soldiers who died during the 1999 Operation Vijay, they said.
The event fostered interaction between veterans and serving personnel, reinforcing their enduring bond through shared experiences and mutual respect.
Army officials acknowledged the ex-servicemen’s contributions to safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty, while the veterans reaffirmed their enduring support for serving soldiers.
The Army hosted a special lunch for the delegation.
The veterans reiterated their commitment to the ideals of honour, sacrifice and service to the nation while remembering the soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice during the Kargil War.
