Couple dead after truck rams motorcycle in Sirsa

Sirsa: A man and his wife died after their motorcycle collided with a trailer truck on the Nathusari Chopta-Bhattu road here, police said on Monday. The deceased were identified as Tara Chand (48) and his wife Murti Devi (45), residents of Migni Khera village in Hisar district. According to police, the couple had visited relatives in Ludesar village under the Nathusari Chopta area and were returning home on Sunday night. At around 9.15 pm, their motorcycle was hit by an oncoming trailer truck on the Bhattu road near Nathusari Chopta. Both sustained serious injuries in the accident. As an ambulance did not arrive immediately, passers-by shifted the injured to the Community Health Centre at Nathusari Chopta in an e-rickshaw. After first aid, they were referred to the Civil Hospital in Sirsa. Murti Devi succumbed to her injuries during treatment on Sunday night. Tara Chand was later referred to a private hospital in Hisar, where he died on Monday. Police said the trailer driver fled the spot after abandoning the vehicle. A team from the Nathusari Chopta police station visited the accident site, registered a case and started an investigation. Head Constable Jagdish Chandra said police were examining the circumstances leading to the accident and efforts were underway to trace the absconding trailer driver.
