SRINAGAR, Aug 18: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday reviewed preparations for the inaugural International Film Festival of Jammu and Kashmir (IFFJK), scheduled to be held from September 7 to 10.
Chairing a comprehensive review meeting, Abdullah assessed arrangements for the four-day festival and called for coordinated efforts to ensure its successful organisation.
The festival will feature film screenings, masterclasses for emerging filmmakers and a range of cultural performances, according to an official statement.
Abdullah directed officials to prominently showcase Jammu and Kashmir’s rich cultural heritage, traditional cuisine, handicrafts, art forms and iconic tourist destinations during the event.
He also stressed the need for meticulous planning and effective coordination among different departments to establish the IFFJK as an annual event and position it on the global film calendar.
The maiden edition of the festival has received an encouraging response from the filmmaking community, with more than 1,100 entries submitted for consideration.
