CBI Arrests J&K PWD Assistant Engineer For Accepting ₹30,000 Bribe In PMGSY Compensation Case
Jammu, Jul 17: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested an Assistant Engineer of the Jammu and Kashmir Public Works Department (PWD), posted with the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), for allegedly accepting a bribe to process a compensation claim. City& Local Guides According to the CBI, the case was registered on July 16, 2026, following a complaint alleging that the complainant’s house was damaged during the construction of the Thathri–Kathawa PMGSY road project in Doda district. The complainant was reportedly entitled to compensation of around ₹10 lakh, but the accused allegedly demanded a ₹50,000 bribe to process and release the payment. After negotiations, the amount was allegedly reduced to ₹30,000. The CBI laid a trap on July 16 and caught the Assistant Engineer red-handed while demanding and accepting the ₹30,000 bribe from the complainant. The accused was arrested, and further investigation into the case is underway.
