BJP MLAs to tour all J&K districts to expose NC’s failures, take people’s issues to Assembly

Jammu: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Jammu & Kashmir held a meeting of its MLAs at the party headquarters, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu, to chalk out an extensive public outreach programme aimed at directly connecting with the people and highlighting their grievances against the NC-led government.

J&K BJP President and Rajya Sabha MP Sat Sharma (CA), Leader of Opposition in the J&K Assembly Sunil Sharma, Lok Sabha MP Jugal Kishore Sharma, Deputy Leader of Opposition Surjit Singh Slathia, and General Secretaries Sanjita Dogra and Gopal Mahajan addressed the meeting.

It was decided that BJP MLAs, led by LoP Sunil Sharma, will undertake a door-to-door tour of all administrative districts of Jammu & Kashmir from September 7 to 20 to personally listen to the problems, grievances and aspirations of the people. Sunil Sharma will commence the tour from Poonch district on September 7.

Sat Sharma, addressing the meeting, said that the initiative reflects BJP’s commitment to remain firmly connected with the people and act as their voice inside and outside the Assembly. He said the NC government has failed to live up to the expectations of the people and has not honoured the promises made during the Assembly elections. “The people of J&K will not be left to suffer because of the failures and broken promises of the NC government. BJP MLAs will reach every district, listen to the people and relentlessly raise their genuine issues in the forthcoming Assembly,” he said.

Sunil Sharma said that the BJP will transform its role as a responsible opposition into a powerful instrument for public accountability. He said the district-wide tour will provide first-hand information about the hardships faced by people and enable BJP MLAs to take up these issues forcefully in the Assembly. “We will not sit in offices and make assumptions. We will go to every doorstep, hear the people and expose the failures of the NC government on the ground,” he asserted.

Jugal Kishore Sharma said that the people of Jammu & Kashmir had placed their faith in democratic governance, development and fulfilment of commitments, but the NC government has disappointed them. He said BJP MLAs will stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the people and ensure that their voices reach the highest forums of governance.

The leaders asserted that BJP will not allow injustice with the people of Jammu & Kashmir and will fight every anti-people decision and failure of the NC government tooth and nail—both inside the Assembly and on the streets. The party will continue to press the government for immediate redressal of public grievances and fulfilment of its electoral commitments.
