No ‘Pakistani Kashmir’, Only Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir: Indian Embassy In US

Washington, Jul 30: The Indian Embassy in the United States on Wednesday objected to a headline published by The New York Times, saying it was “misleading and incorrect” for referring to “Pakistani Kashmir” in a report on recent violence in the region. The embassy asserted that there is no entity called “Pakistani Kashmir” and reiterated India’s long-standing position that the region is Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK). Taking to social media, the embassy stated, “Misleading and incorrect headline by @nytimes. There is no Pakistani Kashmir, only Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.” The response came after the newspaper used the term “Pakistani Kashmir” in the headline of a report covering violent clashes in the territory administered by Pakistan. India has consistently maintained that the entire Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, including Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir, is an integral part of the country and has regularly objected to terminology that it says misrepresents its sovereign position.
