New Delhi, Sept 1: Aviation turbine fuel (ATF) prices were increased by 5.46 per cent on Tuesday, while the price of commercial LPG was raised by Rs 9.50 per 19-kg cylinder, in line with changes in international benchmark rates.
According to state-owned oil companies, ATF prices for domestic airlines have been increased by Rs 6.28 per litre to Rs 121.28 per litre. This follows a Rs 5 per litre hike implemented on August 1.
The latest increase is expected to add to the operating costs of airlines, with ATF accounting for up to 40 per cent of their total expenses.
Meanwhile, commercial LPG prices rose from Rs 2,738 to Rs 2,747.50 per 19-kg cylinder. The price of the 5-kg market-priced LPG cylinder has also been increased from Rs 762 to Rs 764.
The hike comes after two consecutive monthly reductions in commercial LPG prices. Rates were cut by Rs 192 per cylinder on August 1 and by Rs 183.50 on July 1.
Following the latest revision, commercial LPG prices have risen substantially from February levels. After the outbreak of the West Asia conflict, prices had surged by Rs 1,373 per 19-kg cylinder, from Rs 1,740.50 in February to Rs 3,113.50 in June.
ATF and LPG prices are revised on the first day of every month based on international benchmark prices and foreign exchange rates. The final rates vary across States due to differences in local taxes, including VAT.
Prices of domestic LPG used by households remained unchanged at Rs 942 per 14.2-kg cylinder. Petrol and diesel prices also remained unchanged.
