Two Detained Under PSA in Rajouri, Kathua; Alleged Bovine Smuggler Among Those Held
Jammu, Jul 18: Two persons, including an alleged bovine smuggler, have been detained under the Jammu and Kashmir Public Safety Act (PSA) in Rajouri and Kathua districts, police said on Saturday.
According to police, Mohd Mustafa, a resident of Thanamandi in Rajouri district, was detained for his alleged repeated involvement in illegal bovine smuggling activities.
A police spokesperson said that considering his persistent involvement in bovine smuggling and activities considered prejudicial to the maintenance of public order, a detention order under the PSA was issued. He has been lodged in the District Jail Rajouri.
In a separate action, police in Kathua detained Bagh Hussain alias “Bagha”, a resident of Marheen, under the PSA and lodged him in District Jail Bhaderwah.
Police described Hussain as a history-sheeter and a habitual offender involved in criminal activities. The detention was carried out on the orders of the District Magistrate, Kathua, after police prepared and submitted his dossier.
The Public Safety Act (PSA) allows preventive detention without trial for specified periods in cases involving activities deemed prejudicial to public order or the security of the state.
