Three Apprehended for Public Drinking, Serving Liquor in RS Pura

JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 08: Jammu Police have apprehended three persons for allegedly serving and consuming liquor at a meat shop in RS Pura as part of a drive to curb drinking at public places. 

Police Station RS Pura apprehended Yaspaul alias Bhola, son of Basakhi Ram, a resident of Puro Bhana, for allegedly serving liquor at his meat shop. Two others, Amit Kumar, son of Basakhi Ram, of Puro Bhana, and Sham Lal, son of Dwarka Nath, of Bolari, were apprehended while allegedly consuming liquor at the same premises.

Both Amit Kumar and Sham Lal were medically examined and found to be under the influence of liquor. Police also seized liquor bottles from the spot.

In this connection, FIR No. 160/2026 under Section 50-A of the Excise Act has been registered at Police Station RS Pura, and further investigation is underway.

Jammu Police said strict action would be taken against those found consuming or serving liquor at public places, stressing that the drive is aimed at maintaining law and order, ensuring public safety and preserving a peaceful environment.
