Srinagar, Sep 23: Police on Wednesday attached a residential property in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) in connection with a terror-related case, officials said.
The property, a double-storeyed residential house in Namblan village of Sheeri, belongs to accused Aijaz Ahmad Ganie, a police spokesman said.
The property was attached under Section 25 of the UAPA, 1967, following an investigation into an FIR registered in the north Kashmir district.
According to police, the investigation found that the property was prima facie used to provide shelter and logistical support to terrorists and facilitate terrorist activities. The action was taken under relevant provisions of the UAPA concerning property linked to terrorism, the spokesman said.
The attachment was carried out after obtaining the requisite approval from the Director General of Police, he added.
A public notice was also displayed at the property, prohibiting its sale, transfer, lease, mortgage or creation of any third-party interest.
Police said the action was part of ongoing efforts by Baramulla Police to disrupt the logistical and support infrastructure of terror networks and take legal action against individuals and properties allegedly involved in facilitating terrorist activities.
