Suspect Arrested With Hand Grenade, Anti-National Posters in Pulwama
SRINAGAR, Aug 3: Security forces on Monday arrested a suspect and recovered a hand grenade, anti-national posters and a mobile phone during a joint operation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district, foiling a suspected terror-related plot, police said. The operation was carried out jointly by the Pulwama Police, the Army’s 44 Rashtriya Rifles and the 183 Battalion of the CRPF during a naka checking operation on the Drabgam–Pachar road. According to police, the suspect attempted to flee after spotting the security personnel but was chased and apprehended near the Fruit Mandi on Pachar Road. The accused was identified as Tousef Ahmad Dar, a resident of Drabgam Payeen in Pulwama district. During the search, security personnel recovered a hand grenade, three anti-national posters and a mobile phone from his possession. An FIR has been registered at Rajpora Police Station under Sections 7/25 of the Arms Act and Sections 13, 18, 23 and 39 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). Police said further investigation is underway to trace the source of the recovered material and determine any possible links to terrorist networks or other associates.
