Srinagar Police Attach ₹5.60 Crore Worth of Drug-Trafficking Assets in Major NDPS Crackdown

SRINAGAR, Jul 27: In a major crackdown on narcotics trafficking, Srinagar Police on Monday attached immovable properties worth approximately ₹5.60 crore under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, dealing a significant blow to the financial network of alleged drug traffickers operating in the city. The action, carried out under Section 68F of the NDPS Act, forms part of the ongoing Nasha Mukti Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, aimed at dismantling the financial infrastructure of drug syndicates by targeting assets allegedly acquired through proceeds of the illegal narcotics trade. According to police, Police Station Chanapora attached seven immovable properties linked to accused persons in separate NDPS cases. These include properties belonging to Mohd Yaseen Rather (₹65 lakh), Suhail Rashid Haroon (₹60 lakh), Mohd Asif Rather (₹75 lakh), Arsalan Syed Beigh (₹35 lakh), Hilal Ahmad Parray (₹1 crore), Danish Reyaz Shah (₹75 lakh) and Saqib Naseer Beigh (₹70 lakh), all allegedly connected to cases registered under various provisions of the NDPS Act. In a separate action, Police Station Saddar attached a residential house worth around ₹80 lakh belonging to Shaheem Farooq Bhat in connection with an NDPS case registered earlier this year. Police said the attached properties have been identified as illegally acquired assets allegedly generated through proceeds of drug trafficking. The attachment proceedings have been conducted in accordance with the provisions of the NDPS Act and remain subject to confirmation by the competent authority wherever required. Describing the operation as one of the largest financial actions against the drug trade in the Valley, Srinagar Police said the objective is to cripple the economic network supporting narcotics trafficking by depriving offenders of unlawfully acquired wealth. Reaffirming its commitment to a drug-free Jammu and Kashmir, the police urged citizens to continue sharing information related to drug trafficking and other criminal activities, assuring that all credible inputs are treated with strict confidentiality and play a crucial role in the success of the ongoing anti-drug campaign.
