Srinagar Police Attach ₹1.05 Crore Properties Of Two Drug Peddlers Under Nasha Mukti J&K Abhiyan

Srinagar, Jul 30: Continuing its crackdown on narcotics trafficking under the Nasha Mukti Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, Srinagar Police on Thursday attached immovable properties worth approximately ₹1.05 crore belonging to two alleged drug peddlers in separate cases. According to an official statement, the action was taken under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, with the objective of dismantling the financial networks of drug traffickers. The first property, valued at around ₹50 lakh, comprises a residential house and the land beneath it at Pamposh Colony, Palpora, Noorbagh, belonging to Aqib Mushtaq Kenu, son of Mushtaq Ahmad Kenu. The property was attached under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act in connection with FIR No. 48/2022 registered at Police Station Safakadal under Sections 8/21/29 of the NDPS Act. The accused is currently out on bail. The second attachment involved a three-storeyed residential house, two commercial shops and the land beneath them at Pathar Masjid, Zainakadal, owned by Altaf Ahmad Najar alias T.K. Khan, son of Late Ghulam Qadir Najar. The property, estimated to be worth ₹55 lakh, was attached under Section 68-F of Chapter VA of the NDPS Act in connection with FIR No. 32/2021 registered at Police Station Kral Khud under Sections 8/21 of the NDPS Act. Police said Altaf Ahmad Najar is also under preventive detention under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT-NDPS) Act, 1988, and is currently lodged in preventive custody. Investigations revealed that both properties were allegedly acquired through proceeds generated from illegal narcotics trafficking. The attachments were carried out after obtaining approval from the Competent Authority (SAFEMA), New Delhi, in accordance with the legal provisions of the NDPS Act. The operations were executed by specially constituted teams of Srinagar Police in the jurisdictions of Police Post Noorbagh and Police Station M.R. Gunj. Police said the action forms part of its sustained strategy to weaken the financial backbone of drug trafficking networks by depriving offenders of assets allegedly acquired through illicit earnings. Reaffirming its commitment to a drug-free Jammu and Kashmir, Srinagar Police appealed to the public to share credible information on drug trafficking and assured that strict legal action would be taken against those involved in narcotics-related crimes.
