BANDIPORA, SEPT 17: The higher reaches of Gurez Valley in north Kashmir received the season’s first snowfall on Wednesday, with Kabul Gali in Tulail Valley witnessing fresh snowfall and a sharp change in weather conditions.
The snowfall covered the mountainous landscape of Kabul Gali with a fresh layer of snow, giving the high-altitude region a distinctly wintry appearance. The spell was also accompanied by a noticeable drop in temperatures across the upper reaches of Gurez.
Located at a high elevation in the Tulail Valley, Kabul Gali is among the areas of Gurez that generally experience snowfall earlier than the lower parts of the valley. The fresh snowfall marks a gradual shift towards colder weather conditions in the region.
The white blanket over the rugged mountains has further enhanced the scenic beauty of Tulail Valley, which is known for its picturesque landscapes, high-altitude terrain and remote settlements.
With temperatures expected to fall further following the snowfall, residents and travellers have been advised to remain cautious while moving through mountainous areas. Weather conditions can change rapidly in the higher reaches, particularly after fresh snowfall.
The season’s first snow has also brought a clear winter feel to the upper reaches of Gurez and signals the approaching colder months in one of north Kashmir’s high-altitude and remote regions.
