Rajouri’s Historic Bhairav Yatra Added To National Intangible Cultural Heritage Inventory
JAMMU, July 15: The historic Bhairav Yatra of Rajouri has been officially included in the National Inventory of Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) of India, with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha describing the recognition as a proud moment for the district and Jammu and Kashmir. Congratulating the Rajouri District Administration and the Department of Culture, J&K, Sinha said the achievement reflects years of dedicated efforts to preserve the region’s rich spiritual and cultural traditions. In a post on X, the Lieutenant Governor said the prestigious recognition would play a vital role in documenting, preserving and celebrating Rajouri’s deep-rooted cultural heritage while honouring generations of devotees who have kept the tradition alive. He said the inclusion of Bhairav Yatra in the national inventory would strengthen Rajouri’s cultural identity on the national stage and create new opportunities for research, cultural exchange and sustainable heritage tourism. Sinha also commended the Rajouri District Administration and the Department of Culture for turning the long-standing aspiration into a reality.
