Police Station Bakshi Nagar Files Chargesheet Against Veenu Khanna, and Six Others in Sarwal Police Post Attack Case
Jammu, July 24: Jammu Police have filed a chargesheet against Veenu Khanna and six others in connection with the alleged attack on Police Post Sarwal, assault on police personnel, damage to government property and the alleged rescue of an accused from police custody during an incident that took place on May 4, 2024. According to the chargesheet filed by Police Station Bakshi Nagar, the accused are Pardeep Khanna, Veenu Khanna, Rajeshwar Khanna, Aditya Khanna, Parth Khanna, Pranav Khanna and Rajnish Kumar. The police investigation alleges that the accused abused and assaulted police officials during the verification of complaints at Police Post Sarwal. The chargesheet further claims that a group allegedly damaged the police post’s main gate, stormed the premises, attacked police personnel, caused damage to public property and facilitated the escape of an accused from police custody. Police state that the investigation relied on CCTV footage, witness statements, site inspection, medical examination reports of injured police personnel and other documentary evidence. Based on the investigation, the accused have been chargesheeted under Sections 447-A, 353, 332, 225, 147 and 149 of the IPC, along with Section 3 of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, 1984. The chargesheet notes that all seven accused are presently on bail as per orders of the competent court. The case has now been placed before the court for judicial determination.
