PM Modi Meets Australia’s Opposition Leader Angus Taylor, Discusses Bilateral Relations
Melbourne, July 10: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday met Australia’s Leader of Opposition Angus Taylor and held discussions on strengthening India-Australia bilateral ties, the Ministry of External Affairs said.
The meeting focused on the growing India-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, with both sides highlighting the strong bipartisan support in Australia for deeper engagement with India.
Sharing details of the interaction, PM Modi said he had an engaging conversation with Angus Taylor on the expanding partnership and future opportunities between the two countries.
During his three-day visit to Australia, PM Modi held summit talks with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, leading to the signing of several agreements in areas including civil nuclear energy, maritime security, defence cooperation, critical minerals, cyber technology and supply chains.
India and Australia also agreed to accelerate discussions on the proposed Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CECA) and a bilateral investment protection framework to boost trade and investment ties.
The visit is part of PM Modi’s three-nation tour, following his visit to Indonesia. He is scheduled to travel to New Zealand as the final leg of the tour. During his Australia visit, Modi also addressed the Indian diaspora at the ‘Melbourne Meets Modi’ event.
