JMC Comm Reviews Fire Safety Compliance, Assures Support to Commercial Establishments for Fire NOCs
Jammu, July 16: Jammu Municipal Corporation's ongoing efforts to strengthen fire safety and ensure compliance with statutory norms, Dr. Devansh Yadav, Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), today conducted an extensive visit to Jewel Chowk, Bakshi Nagar, Subhash Nagar, Vivekananda Chowk, and adjoining areas. During the visit, he interacted with the management of private hospitals, hotels, restaurants, clothing shopping malls, and other commercial establishments to review the status of Fire No Objection Certificate (Fire NOC) compliance and encourage timely adherence to fire safety regulations.
Addressing representatives of various establishments, the Commissioner emphasized that the primary objective of the exercise is to enhance public safety and build a robust fire safety culture across the city. He assured the business community that JMC is committed to facilitating compliance in a transparent, cooperative, and citizen-friendly manner.
To enable commercial establishments to complete the necessary fire safety requirements, a period of 30 to 45 days has been provided for obtaining the mandatory Fire NOC.
Dr. Devansh Yadav further clarified that no coercive action will be taken against any establishment that applies for a Fire NOC and actively undertakes the prescribed compliance measures within the stipulated timeframe.
The Commissioner also informed that JMC will work in close coordination with the Chamber of Commerce, Hotel Associations, and other trade bodies to ensure 100 percent compliance with fire safety norms, thereby protecting lives and property while fostering a safer urban environment.
Expressing confidence in the cooperation of the business community, Dr. Devansh Yadav said that with the active participation of all stakeholders, there would be no need for any enforcement action by the Corporation. He reiterated that the initiative is intended not only to ensure legal compliance but also to safeguard commercial establishments against fire hazards and create a safer Jammu for residents, visitors, and businesses alike.
