KUPWARA, SEPTEMBER 17: Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat has granted prior approval for the attachment of properties allegedly belonging to two terrorists who, according to police records, are currently operating from Pakistan.
The action has been initiated under Section 25 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) in connection with FIR No. 276/2022 registered at Police Station Kupwara.
According to the official order, the properties identified for attachment include 15 kanals and 7 marlas of land and two residential houses located in Kachama area of Kupwara district.
The properties are registered in the names of Ab Majid Qureshi, son of Ab Rouf Qureshi, and Parvaiz Ahmad Qureshi, son of Mohd Mustafa Qureshi, both residents of Kachama.
The police document states that the properties fall under the definition of “proceeds of terrorism” under Section 2(1)(g)(ii) of the UAPA and are liable for attachment in connection with the case.
As per the property details, 10 kanals and 7 marlas of land along with a three-storeyed residential house have been listed in connection with Ab Majid Qureshi. In the case of Parvaiz Ahmad Qureshi, the order identifies 5 kanals of land and a single-storeyed residential house.
The approval refers to various provisions of the Indian Penal Code, including Sections 120-B, 121, 121-A, 122 and 123, along with several sections of the UAPA, including Sections 17, 18, 18-A, 18-B, 20, 38, 39 and 40.
The directions have been issued to the DSP DAR Kupwara, with copies forwarded to senior police and intelligence officials, including the ADG CID, IG Kashmir Zone, AIG CT/INT and SSP Kupwara.
The property attachment forms part of ongoing legal proceedings concerning assets allegedly linked to terrorism-related activities in Kupwara district.
