J&K Government Announces Summer Break For Degree Colleges From July 21 To August 2

Srinagar, July 14: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has announced summer vacations for all Government Degree Colleges in the Kashmir Division and Winter Zone of Jammu Division from July 21 to August 2, 2026. The Higher Education Department issued the order under Government Order No. 234-JK(HE) of 2026, stating that the vacation schedule will apply to all government colleges falling under the notified regions. The order, issued from the Civil Secretariat on July 14, was approved by the Jammu and Kashmir Government and communicated to concerned departments and college authorities for compliance. Copies of the notification have been shared with the office of the Lieutenant Governor, Ministry of Home Affairs, General Administration Department, Director Colleges, Registrars, nodal principals and principals of government degree colleges. The summer break is expected to provide relief to students, teaching staff and non-teaching employees during the peak summer period, with academic activities scheduled to resume after the vacation.
