Srinagar, September 21: Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma on Monday said the ongoing Autumn Session provides an important opportunity to address issues concerning the people and seek answers from the government on pending matters.
Speaking to reporters on the opening day of the Assembly session, Sharma said people had high expectations from the government and were waiting for action on several issues that, according to him, had remained unresolved despite repeated assurances.
“The people have a lot of expectations from this session and from the government. The J&K government has made many promises,” Sharma said.
He said the BJP, as the Opposition, would raise issues affecting different sections of society and seek accountability from the government during the session.
Among the issues highlighted by Sharma were the concerns of daily-wage workers, contractual and temporary employees, ASHA workers and Anganwadi workers. He said these matters would be taken up in the Assembly.
Sharma also referred to the demand for age relaxation for Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) aspirants, indicating that BJP legislators would raise the issue during the session.
“There are many such issues that we will raise,” he said, adding that the Opposition would continue to bring public grievances before the House.
The Autumn Session is expected to witness discussions on a range of issues related to governance, employment, public services and the welfare of various sections of society.
BJP legislators are expected to question the government on commitments made to the people and seek responses on issues that remain pending.
