Jammu-Srinagar NH-44, Doda-Kishtwar Road Closed After Heavy Rain Triggers Landslides
Srinagar, July 23: Heavy rainfall across Jammu and Kashmir has led to the closure of the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) and the Doda-Kishtwar Road after landslides, mudslides and shooting stones disrupted traffic at several vulnerable locations, officials said on Thursday.
According to officials, continuous rainfall has made road conditions unsafe, forcing authorities to suspend vehicular movement on both routes.
The Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri (SSG) Road and the Mughal Road remain open for traffic. However, commuters have been advised to exercise caution as adverse weather continues across the Union Territory.
Traffic Police said persistent rain has increased the risk of landslides, shooting stones and road blockages on several highways and roads. Authorities have urged people to avoid unnecessary travel until weather conditions improve and roads are declared safe.
Commuters have also been advised to check the latest road status through the Traffic Control Units (TCUs) and the Traffic Police’s official social media platforms before planning their journey.
