New Delhi, Sept 19: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said India’s Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) with various countries are creating new opportunities for the country’s youth by opening access to new markets, partnerships and career prospects.
Addressing a Rozgar Mela virtually, Modi said the skills and talent of Indian youth have earned global recognition, with growing expectations from the country’s entrepreneurs, innovators and young workforce.
The Prime Minister said India has signed 40 FTAs, which he said are creating new possibilities for entrepreneurs and expanding career opportunities for young people.
During the event, more than 51,000 appointment letters were distributed virtually to newly recruited candidates joining various Central Government ministries and departments.
Referring to the recently concluded BRICS Summit, Modi said India wants cooperation within the grouping to extend beyond governments and involve entrepreneurs, farmers, women and youth.
He also highlighted the growth of India’s startup ecosystem, saying the country is now the world’s third-largest startup ecosystem. According to Modi, nearly half of recognised startups are based in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities, indicating that entrepreneurship is expanding beyond major urban centres.
The Prime Minister said young people have an important role in India’s goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047. He urged newly recruited government employees to take decisions that contribute to the country’s development and self-reliance.
Emphasising the importance of public service, Modi said “Nagrik Devo Bhava”, or citizens are supreme, should remain the guiding principle for those serving in government.
As part of the latest Rozgar Mela, 45 job fairs were organised at locations across the country. The newly recruited candidates will join departments and ministries including Revenue, Railways, Home Affairs, Health and Family Welfare, Financial Services and Defence.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the Rozgar Mela reflects the government’s focus on expanding employment opportunities and increasing youth participation in the country’s development.
With the 20th Rozgar Mela, around 12.75 lakh youngsters have received appointment letters in various Central Government departments and organisations, the statement said.
