JAMMU, Aug 7: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday said the newly launched Artificial Intelligence (AI) Centre of Excellence at IIT Jammu and the entrepreneurship-focused Project Phoenix will play a key role in driving innovation, technology-led solutions and self-employment opportunities in Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking at the launch, Abdullah said the AI Centre of Excellence, established jointly by the Government of India, the Jammu and Kashmir Government and IIT Jammu, will focus on developing innovative, technology-driven solutions to address the Union Territory's unique challenges.
Highlighting the significance of Project Phoenix, the Chief Minister said the initiative is aimed at nurturing entrepreneurship and promoting self-employment among the youth.
"To promote self-employment and entrepreneurship, IIT Jammu has launched an excellent programme called Project Phoenix. Its objective is to identify aspiring entrepreneurs, support them through mentorship, provide market access and equip them with the necessary training to build successful ventures," Abdullah said.
He expressed confidence that the twin initiatives would strengthen the innovation ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir, encourage startups and create new opportunities for young entrepreneurs, contributing to the region's economic growth and technological advancement.
