IFFJK 2026 Extends Film Submission Deadline Till Aug 1
Srinagar: The organisers of the 1st International Film Festival of Jammu and Kashmir (IFFJK) 2026 have extended the deadline for film submissions till August 1, 2026, at 11:59 pm, giving filmmakers a final opportunity to register their entries for the inaugural edition of the festival.
Organised by the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), the four-day festival will be held from September 7 to 10 and aims to position Jammu and Kashmir as a vibrant hub for cinema, creativity and cultural exchange.
The extension comes amid an overwhelming response from filmmakers, with the festival receiving more than 900 entries from around 50 countries, reflecting growing global interest in Jammu and Kashmir as an emerging destination for film production and cinematic collaboration.
The festival will feature screenings of selected films, masterclasses, panel discussions, interactive sessions and cultural programmes, bringing together filmmakers, industry professionals, students and cinema enthusiasts from across the world.
According to the organisers, the event seeks to promote the rich culture and heritage of Jammu and Kashmir through cinema while encouraging artistic excellence, cultural exchange and innovation in filmmaking.
The DIPR is also planning a series of outreach activities to ensure wide participation from stakeholders across the film industry.
The curtain-raiser ceremony for the festival was held on July 17, formally inviting filmmakers, producers, artists and cinema lovers from India and abroad to participate in the landmark event.
