Grand Aarti, devotional Bhajan evening held at historic Jia Pota Ghat in Akhnoor
Jammu: On the auspicious occasion of the holy month of Shravan and as part of the observance of Sanskrit Month, a grand Maha Aarti and devotional Bhajan Sandhya were organised with great devotion, faith, and enthusiasm at the historic Jia Pota Ghat in Akhnoor. The event was jointly organised by the Shri Kailakh Jyotish avim Vedic Sansthan Trust and the Shri Raghunath Ji Aarti Sansthan, Jammu.
A large number of devotees participated in the programme and sought spiritual blessings. The entire atmosphere was filled with devotion and positive spiritual energy through Vedic chanting, ceremonial lamp lighting, the collective Maha Aarti, and other religious rituals. Following the Maha Aarti, a melodious Bhajan Sandhya featuring devotional hymns dedicated to Lord Shiva and Lord Shri Ram immersed the devotees in an atmosphere of divine bliss. The historic Jia Pota Ghat resonated with the chants of "Har Har Mahadev" and "Jai Shri Ram."
On the occasion, MLA Mohan Lal Bhagat stated that such religious and cultural programmes play a significant role in promoting spiritual awareness, social harmony, and preserving India's rich cultural heritage. He added that organising such events at historically and religiously significant places like Jia Pota Ghat helps connect the younger generation with their culture, traditions, and spiritual values.
Mahant Rohit Shastri, President of the Shri Kailakh Jyotish and Vedic Sansthan Trust, said that the Maha Aarti organised during the holy month of Shravan is not merely a religious ritual but also a powerful symbol of Sanatan culture, devotion, selfless service, and social unity. He remarked that collective worship, devotional singing, and prayers spread positive energy, peace, harmony, and brotherhood throughout society.
MLA Sham Lal Sharma of the Jammu North Assembly constituency said that regular organisation of such spiritual events would further strengthen Akhnoor's religious and historical identity. Appreciating the efforts of the organising committee, he said that such programmes help reinforce moral values, cultural traditions, and mutual harmony within society.
Baldev Khullar, Vice Chairperson of the Maha Aarti Committee of the Shri Raghunath Ji Aarti Sansthan, Jammu, stated that the institution remains committed to religious and social service and will continue to undertake welfare activities with the support of the public. He also informed that Dr. Kunwari Ritu Singh serves as the Chairperson of the Shri Raghunath Ji Aarti Sansthan, Jammu.
Among the distinguished dignitaries present were Mahant Yashpal Ji of Baba Ballo Dev Sthan, Mathwar; Mahamandaleshwar Mahant Rameshwar Das Ji; Mahant Satya Narayan Das Ji; MLA Surinder Bhagat of Marh Assembly constituency; Daljit Singh; Baldev Khullar, Vice Chairperson of Shri Raghunath Ji Aarti Sansthan; SDPO Akhnoor Bharat Sharma; SHO Akhnoor Sushil Choudhary; former Sarpanch Rajdev Singh; Ankush Sharma; Kulbhushan Jamwal; Rakesh Gandotra; Professor Sharad Sharma; Uttam Chand Sharma; Nirbhay Sharma; Lucky Sharma; Nitin Sharma; Dr. Sanjay Sharma; Atul Sharma; Amit Jamwal; Honey Singh; along with several other eminent personalities, saints, representatives of social organisations, and a large gathering of devotees, all of whom participated in the Maha Aarti and Bhajan Sandhya and received spiritual blessings.
