JAMMU, AUGUST 13: Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar and Inspector General of Police Jammu Zone Bhim Sen Tuti today chaired a meeting to review the arrangements for the smooth, safe and successful conduct of the Shri Buddha Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026.
The meeting was informed that the Yatra would commence on August 17, 2026 here from Base Camp Bhagwati Nagar. Detailed discussions were held on the movement plan, security arrangements, traffic regulation, road maintenance, essential services and facilities for pilgrims along the route.
DIG, Traffic J-S-K Range; DIG R-P Range; Deputy Commissioners of Jammu, Rajouri, Poonch and Reasi; SSP Jammu; SSP Traffic Jammu; SSP NHW; Director Health Services Jammu, besides other senior officers of the concerned departments, participated in the meeting in person and through virtual mode.
The Divisional Commissioner directed the concerned departments to complete respective tasks well in advance and ensure seamless coordination at every level. He emphasized that adequate facilities must be available at designated locations to ensure the convenience, safety and comfort of pilgrims.
The Inspector General of Police directed the traffic department and security agencies to regulate the movement of buses and private vehicles as per the approved route and schedule. The officers were asked to ensure that pilgrims depart and reach designated halts within the prescribed timings to prevent congestion and inconvenience to the general public.
Road infrastructure along the Yatra route also came under review. The concerned agencies were directed to undertake necessary road maintenance and improvement works, ensure proper road surfacing and address vulnerable locations including manholes, before the commencement of the Yatra.
The meeting further emphasized the need for adequate medical and emergency response arrangements along the route. The health authorities were asked to ensure the availability of ambulances, medical teams and other essential healthcare facilities at appropriate locations for prompt assistance to pilgrims whenever required.
Deputy Commissioners of Jammu, Rajouri, Poonch, Reasi, Police Administration and other senior officers of concerned departments and the concerned districts briefed the chairs about current status of arrangements put in place for conduct of smooth Yatra.
They assured that all arrangements would be completed before the commencement of Shri Buddha Amarnath Ji Yatra.
The Divisional Commissioner directed the respective district administration to convene meetings with all concerned departments and stakeholders well in advance to review and finalize the necessary arrangements for the smooth and safe conduct of the annual Yatra.
The Divisional Commissioner stressed to implement all arrangements with a clear focus on safety, security, disciplined movement and public convenience. He further stressed on maintaining close coordination among the civil administration, police, traffic authorities and other stakeholders.
Representatives from civil society, including Baba Shri Buddha Amarnath Ji Yatra Niyas, VHP and Bajrang Dal also participated in the meeting and shared their suggestions for ensuring the smooth and hassle-free conduct of the Yatra
