Crime Branch Chargesheets Four in Fake AAI Recruitment Scam
SRINAGAR, July 22: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Crime Branch, Kashmir, has filed a chargesheet against four accused in connection with an alleged recruitment scam in which unemployed youth were duped with false promises of jobs in the Airports Authority of India (AAI).
The chargesheet was submitted before the Court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Srinagar, in connection with an FIR registered in 2018 under Sections 420 and 120-B of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC), read with Section 66(D) of the Information Technology Act.
The accused have been identified as Mohit Sharma alias Bhardwaj of Noida, Uttar Pradesh; Mukesh Kumar of New Delhi; Mehmood Khan of Sarita Vihar, New Delhi; and Ram Lakhan of Dumariyaganj, Uttar Pradesh.
According to the Crime Branch, the case was registered after complaints were received from several districts across the Kashmir Valley alleging that the accused had collected lakhs of rupees from job aspirants by falsely promising them employment in the Airports Authority of India.
Officials said the investigation substantiated the allegations against the accused. Following completion of the probe, the Economic Offences Wing filed the chargesheet before the competent court for judicial proceedings.
The Crime Branch reiterated its commitment to taking strict action against those involved in financial fraud and employment scams targeting unemployed youth.
