New Delhi, Sep 12: Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in the national capital on Saturday for a two-day visit to attend the BRICS Summit, marking his first trip to India in seven years.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with Xi on Saturday evening, with discussions expected to focus on strengthening trade and investment ties between the two countries.
Xi’s visit comes amid a series of recent high-level diplomatic engagements between India and China, including the Special Representatives’ dialogue in Beijing between National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
The visit also takes place against the backdrop of continuing concerns over Chinese military activities along the Arunachal Pradesh sector of the India-China border.
