BJP Chief Nitin Nabin Cuts Short J&K Visit, Skips Vaishno Devi Pilgrimage
Jammu, Jul 7: BJP national president Nitin Nabin on Tuesday cut short his two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir, cancelling his scheduled pilgrimage to the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine and returning to New Delhi due to official commitments, party leaders said.
Nabin, who arrived in Jammu on Monday on his first visit to the Union Territory as BJP president, attended a series of organisational meetings during his stay. He visited the RSS headquarters at Keshav Bhawan, paid tributes to Bharatiya Jana Sangh leader Prem Nath Dogra, and chaired a joint meeting of the BJP’s sitting and former legislators at the party headquarters in Trikuta Nagar.
He was scheduled to visit the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in Reasi district on Tuesday, but the programme was cancelled following a change in his schedule. Party leaders said he had to return to Delhi to attend important organisational meetings.
J&K BJP MLA and spokesperson R.S. Pathania said discussions during the meeting focused on strengthening the party’s organisational base in Jammu and Kashmir, reinforcing nationalist ideology, enhancing public confidence, and addressing key issues, including the security situation in the Jammu region.
According to Pathania, separate interactions with district leaders, elected representatives and former legislators were merged into a single joint meeting due to time constraints, which he described as productive and meaningful.
Nabin’s visit also coincided with the 125th birth anniversary celebrations of Bharatiya Jana Sangh founder Syama Prasad Mookerjee. His scheduled address at a youth convention was also cancelled following the revised itinerary.
