Arms, Ammunition Recovered During Search Op in Reasi

JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 2: Security forces recovered a cache of arms and ammunition from a hideout in the general area of Khataji in Reasi following a joint search operation launched by the Army, Special Operations Group (SOG) and Jammu and Kashmir Police, officials said on Wednesday.

According to initial information, troops of 58 Rashtriya Rifles, SOG and J&K Police launched the search operation in the area on September 1 following specific intelligence inputs regarding the presence of a suspected hideout.

During the operation, the joint team recovered a significant quantity of ammunition and other war-like stores from the hideout.

The recovered items include 140 rounds of AK-47 ammunition, 19 rounds of PIKA ammunition, 25 rounds of 9mm pistol ammunition, one grenade, six cassettes, one AK magazine and one pistol.

Officials said the recovery was made during the search operation conducted in the general area of Khataji. The seizure is being treated as a significant development, and further investigation is underway to ascertain the origin and intended use of the recovered arms and ammunition.

The seizure memo was yet to be ascertained at the time of filing this report, while further details regarding the operation and possible links to terrorist activities were awaited.

Security forces and police have been maintaining heightened surveillance and conducting search operations in vulnerable areas following intelligence inputs about the movement and activities of terrorists and their associates.
