Amphetamine drug of Rs 1.60 crore seized from Delhi-Indore bus; one held


Indore, Sep 10: The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has seized around two kilograms of amphetamine, a highly restricted drug, from a bus travelling to Indore from Delhi, and arrested a smuggler, an official said on Thursday.

The value of the seized drug is around Rs 1.60 crore in the international market.

Based on the information received on September 9, a passenger bus was stopped on the Indore-Dewas bypass road and a suspicious person on board was searched, the official said.

Four sealed envelopes were found in the person's luggage, hidden inside four salwar suit sets.

He said that the four envelopes contained sealed polythene bags, containing a total of 2.1 kilograms of amphetamine.

According to the official, the drug was seized under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and the smuggler was arrested.

A detailed DRI investigation is underway in the case.

Amphetamine is a stimulant drug that makes the nervous system more active. Its non-medical use and possession is illegal.
