ACB registers disproportionate assets case against govt employee

Jammu, Sep 17: Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday registered a disproportionate assets case against an employee of the Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) here, an official said.

Ashwani Kumar, a resident of Vinayak Nagar, was booked under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act following a verification conducted into allegations that the public servant has acquired huge assets, both movable and immovable, disproportionate to his known sources of income, a spokesperson of the ACB said.

He said the verification has revealed that the official has accumulated assets in the shape of shops, plots, flats and various luxurious vehicles through corrupt practices and illegal means, in his own name as well as in the names of his family members.

After a warrant was obtained from the court, a search was conducted at Kumar's residential premises in the presence of independent witnesses and Magistrates, the spokesman said, adding that further investigation of the case is going on.
