Ryan Gosling to Play Ghost Rider in Marvel’s New Film
LOS ANGELES, July 26: Actor Ryan Gosling has been cast as Johnny Blaze, the iconic Marvel antihero Ghost Rider, in an upcoming Marvel Studios film scheduled for release in 2028. The announcement was made during Marvel Studios’ Hall H presentation at San Diego Comic-Con. The film will be directed by Shawn Levy. Ghost Rider is one of Marvel Comics’ most popular supernatural characters. The story follows Johnny Blaze, who sells his soul to save a loved one and becomes the Spirit of Vengeance, transforming into a flaming skeletal rider who punishes evil. The character was previously portrayed by Nicolas Cage in the 2007 film Ghost Rider and its 2011 sequel Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. The first film earned more than USD 200 million worldwide, while the sequel grossed nearly USD 150 million globally. Gosling was most recently seen in Hail Mary, where he played Ryland Grace, a science teacher-turned-astronaut who awakens alone aboard an interstellar spacecraft with no memory of his mission. Directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the film was a major box-office success. Marvel’s announcement has generated significant excitement among fans, with Gosling set to bring a fresh interpretation of one of the studio’s most iconic supernatural heroes.
